Andrew, Iowa — Students at Andrew Community School showed off their inner leaders Friday during the school’s fourth annual Leadership Day.
Students showed parents, community leaders and education workers the roles they have taken as leaders in classes and in the community.
The day highlights a year-long effort by students to conduct service projects throughout the community. The initiative is part of the “Leader In Me” program the school has been using for the past four years.
Principal Tara Notz said the program is meant to empower students at an early age to build leadership skills through collaborative projects.
“It prepares them for their whole lives on how to work together and be better people,” Notz said. “We try to turn everything over to the kids and give them the responsibility.” (full article…)
