Bellevue, IA -- The Jackson County Economic Alliance (JCEA) held its annual meeting last Tuesday in Bellevue, to not only elect officers, but to recap and celebrate a succful year of development.

The evvent was sponsored and hosted by Water Street Market of bellevue and was open to all investors in the JCEA. Over 50 attendees were on hand including board members, investors, and other partnering organizations.

Director and Bellevue native, Dave Heiar, along with assistant director Nic Hockenberry, provided an overview of the JCEA's efforts over its first two years of existence. Heiar began by highlighting the JCEA's focus on business and industry development. They have completed 24 in depth industry visits; established a bi-monthly meeting of manufacturers in the county; and worked to promote area business and industry through Manufacturing Week events and other teacher/student business tours.

Hockenberry descirbed their quality of life efforts as "an important tool for the successful re cuitment and retention of a skilled workforce, and a robust workforce is necessary for the success of our businesses and industries." Efforts to highlight Jackson County's qualityf of life include the completion of a county-wide Housing Needs Assessment; coordination of the Parks to People pilot program; and with support form the Community Foundation of Jackson County, the JCEA will be working to establish a county-wide marketing plan to spotlight the county.
