Business Expansion, Business Innovation, Small Business

What a difference a year makes.

At least it does when it comes to "Tyme," the new and unique curling iron that was introduced and patented about 14 months agao by Jacynda and Dan Smith of Bellevue.

This time last year, the couple, along with a few family members, were shipping the first orders in a make-shift garage facility in the back of Water Street Market. The space was graciously donated to the business start-up by the Ernst family.

Today, the operation has been moved to a large warehous space at Iron Horse storage on the north side of town, and employs 28 full and part-time people who work in various shifts filling orders for the wildly popular hair care product.

The Tyme curling iron, mentioned in NBC's Today Show recently has been featured more than once on local television stations in the Quad Cities, and has received millions of views on the internet and social media as well. (full article...)
