Dubuque, Maquoketa each receive more than $200,000 for Iowa Great Places projects

Projects in Dubuque and Maquoketa each have been awarded more than $200,000 from the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs.

The projects were among five to receive funding through the Iowa Great Places program, which “recognizes and partners with Iowans who cultivate the unique and authentic qualities of their local places,” according to a press release.

The City of Dubuque will receive $285,762 to put toward a $666,993 project to restore the Mathias Ham House campus. New assessments of the condition of the site will be taken, repairs will be made to the structures and new landscaping will be completed.

In Maquoketa, $218,200 will go toward establishing Maquoketa’s first trail system. The project will cost $502,388, and will involve the installation of multiple trails.
