MAQUOKETA, Iowa — A manufacturing company with a facility in Maquoketa announced Friday that it will undertake an $85 million worldwide expansion.

That means 40 new jobs at HUSCO International in Maquoketa over the next three years and more than 200 new positions worldwide, according to company CEO Austin Ramirez.

“It’s market-share expansion — new programs that we’ve been awarded for new products and technologies,” he said.

Most of the three-year capital investment will be at HUSCO’s headquarters in Waukesha, Wis., according to a press release. But “major investments” also will be made at other facilities, including in Maquoketa.

HUSCO is a “global leader” in the production of hydraulic and electro-hydraulic controls for the off-highway and automotive industries, according to the release. The Maquoketa facility primarily produces control systems for agricultural and industrial equipment.

Company officials will invest $16 million to “expand and modernize worldwide facilities,” the release states. The remaining $69 million will be used to acquire program-specific manufacturing equipment and tools.

Ramirez could not say what the specific investment in Maquoketa will be, though he noted that new equipment will be added. The new positions primarily will be “direct production,” he said. (full article)
